Raidió na Gaeltachta today report that Vodafone will have invested €4m in their infrastructure in the county by the end of the autumn, making high-speed broadband and 4G services available to 92% of the population.

Three had also undertaken work to upgrade their service in Donegal, with further work due to take place soon in the areas of Glenties, Killybegs, Mountcharles and Moville.

Vodafone began their upgrading work in Co. Donegal in Donegal town in September 2014, and 40% of the work has been completed.

At present, 79% of Vodafone customers in Donegal have access to 3G, and this will have increased to 98% by the end of autumn. 33% of their customers currently have access to 4G, which is up to ten times quicker that 3G, and that will increase to 92% as a result of the work.

Since Vodafone began their upgrade work in Donegal, there has been a 50% increase in the number of customers using data and broadband on mobile phones in the county due to the improved speed.
