Despite the poor weather conditions a good crowd of over 100 participants gathered in Kerrykeel to support Gaeil Fhánada’s inaugural 5K race.
The race winner was local Rosnakill man Adam Friel running with Letterkenny Ac, who was a popular winner.
Adam’s concentrations are now on athletics but was once a very prominent and capable player with Gaeil Fhánada. In second place it was club footballer Mark ‘Sparky’ Friel followed in 3rd by Kerrykeel native Joe Gallagher.
The ladies winner was Fanad girl Karen Gallagher, also running with Letterkenny Ac while in second place was Mairead Coll of Gaeil Fhánada.
The 5k was preceded by a mile race for u16s with some fun races for the u10 age group on the pitch. Congratulations to all involved. Results will be posted in the club notes at the weekend. Thanks to all, club members and others, too many to mention, who assisted on the day with stewarding, registration etc. Many thanks to the Kerrykeel Park Development Committee for the kind use of their facilities.
