There has been a furious reaction following the decision by the Donegal League to host its awards function on the same night Finn Harps play UCD.
Harps have made a sensational start to the season and have gone an incredible ELEVEN games unbeaten.
However, if they avoid defeat to UCD at Finn Park on Friday night then it will be their best EVER start to a season in the club's long and illustrious history.
Ollie Horgan's side deserve a big crowd to help them create history and maintain their advantage at the top of the table, but the decision has infuriated the soccer fraternity in Donegal.
A huge number of players and managers involved in the Donegal League are Finn Harps fans and recognise the importance of supporting Donegal's only senior club.
However, the decision has forced many players, managers and representatives of Donegal League clubs to postpone plans to head to Finn Park.
Finn Harps supporters are angered by the decision taken by the Donegal League power brokers and believe the decision could take between 200-300 fans away from the crowd.
Harps fanatic and Tullyvinney Rovers goalkeeper Nigel Hegarty has been left 'flabbergasted' by the Donegal League's decision and says they've bent over backwards to accommodate other sports.
Hegarty told Donegal Daily, "It's a disgrace from them, and it's not the first time they've done it.
"Instead of the Donegal football family coming together to help each other on a history making night, they've gone and stuck two fingers up to Harps.
"Where they bent over backwards to help GAA last year by postponing a full round of fixtures, they're organising a night clashing with one of the biggest nights in Harps recent history which will potentially take a couple of hundred people away from Finn Park.
"It's a disgrace.
Brian Coll who plays for Kildrum Tigers and is a former Finn Harps Reserve player is also furious by the league's decision.
His brother Ciaran Coll is the vice-captain of Finn Harps and he'll be unable to attend the function as he wants to attend the potentially history-making night at Finn Park.
He feels though that he shouldn't have to choose and the whole situation could've been avoided.
Coll told Donegal Daily, "They don't seem to care at all, Harps are the ONLY senior club in the county yet it seems as if they just have no regard for the club.
"I would've loved to have gone to the function, as it's a great night and a good way to mix with other clubs and recall the season just past.
"But I'll be going to support Finn Harps, they're competing at a national level and doing the whole county proud with their performances.
"They deserve some respect and putting on a function which is taking a significant amount of people away from a big match is scandalous.
However, Donegal League PRO Gary Foy has dismissed and completely refuted the suggestions that there is an agenda against Finn Harps and said relations between two organisations was very healthy.
Foy told Donegal Daily, "The Donegal League did not make a decision to host its awards function on the same night that Finn Harps play UCD.
"The Donegal League booked the venue for its awards function one year ago, 8 months before the SSE Airtricity League First Division Fixtures were released.
"The function takes place on the same night annually followed by the League AGM the following Monday night as is the case this year.
Foy conceded that Harps have made a sensational start to the season by going eleven games unbeaten and he is hoping they will avoid defeat against UCD and make history with their best ever start to a season.
Foy said Ollie Horgan and his team do deserve a big crowd on Friday night to help them to an historic result and said they deserve a big crowd every week.
Foy also added that Donegal League managers do realise the importance of Finn Harps, but said they understood that the league's hands were tied in relation to the function and that it isn't organised overnight and that it takes months of planning.
Foy continued, "It is the League's showcase with its sponsors, clubs, players and everyone else connected in various manners in attendance.
"It is arguable how many managers are having to make a choice as stated between which event to attend.
"The Finn Harps supporters who say that the function could keep 200 - 300 away from Finn Park could not show any basis for such a statistic.
"Enough is enough as far as addressing every point is concerned.
"Nor am I going to directly answer those named in the article, however the truth must be told.
"In no way did the Donegal League committee fix their night in direct opposition to Finn Harps.
"They will as much as anyone want to see Harps achieve their ambitions.
"The Donegal Junior League wish Finn Harps all the best for the season.
"Friday night's events collision is unfortunate but unavoidable in this instance.
"Relations between the Donegal League and the Finn Harps club are in no way strained and only last week we actually had an agreement in place which in the end was not needed.
"The Donegal League will celebrate another successful season with its Presentation Function at the Radisson Hotel on Friday night whilst at the same time hopefully Harps will be taking another step towards the Premier Division of the League.
