OVER SIX HUNDRED SCHOOLKIDS PARTICPATE IN FRAN FIELDS SCHOOLS CUP COMPETITION

Last week in Finn Park, Ballybofey the 2015 Fran Fields Kelly’s Toyota Cup Festival took place.

With over 48 schools in the county and over 600 children taking part over the 3 days, it was a hugely successful Finn Harps Schools Programme event.

The children travelled from schools all over the county & played their hearts out and pictured here we have the winners from the 3 days events.

Kelly’s Toyota, Letterkenny & Mountcharles sponsored this years Fran Fields cup and they have kindly become the official sponsor for the next 2 years of the overall Finn Harps Schools Programme.

“We are delighted that a brand & local business like Kelly’s Toyota have come on board as our main sponsors & when approached Brendan Kelly from Kelly’s Toyota said he was was delighted to become part of a programme that not only supported sporting activities in a county wide schools programme but the support the programme is bringing to children in the development of positive life skills by providing safe, enjoyable recreation opportunities where each child has a positive, rewarding experience while learning the basic skills and fundamentals of the soccer football regardless of skill level and where each child will learn the importance of sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, respect, and integrity while sharing with their coaches and teammates the emotions of success and failure.” says Paddy Harte, Chairman of the Finn Harps Schools Programme.

"We the committee are delighted to have Kelly’s Toyota as part of our next 2 year programme rollout & would like to extend a huge thank you to him for sharing our vision”.

The event also had the pleasure of the presence of Louis Fields, grandson of Fran Fields attend the 3 days events.

“I feel honoured that my grandfathers name is used for such an important cup, and will be used for many years to come.

"I feel that it is right to say even though Fran is no longer with us, this cup, in promoting the club to young school children and hopefully finding the next superstars of the Irish League, he is still looking out for the club.

"Hopefully I can keep the Fields name alive and once again see Finn harps at their best.” Louis commented.

The Finn Harps schools Programme are also delighted to be partnered with The Eat Right Play Right Initiative which was developed as a new element of the Finn Harps F.C. Schools Programme and is a joint project between, Finn Harps Schools Programme, Donegal Sports Partnership and ProFormance Sports Nutrition.

Eat Right Play Right is an educational programme devised to provide pupils with the skills and knowledge they require to ensure they have adequate nutrition for their sport.

It is designed to introduce the basic concepts of healthy eating and how they can apply this to their respective sports or activity.
