DONEGAL butcher Shane McConnell has been officially crowned Ireland’s friendliest butcher.
The Ballybofey man won the “The Friendliest Butcher in Ireland” competition which was run by food company Goodalls.
A spokesman for Goodalls said the reason for running the competition was to give Butchers the recognition they deserve.
“Many of the more traditional crafts and small businesses have disappeared from our high street, but our Butchers are still going strong.”
“There are many trade awards to celebrate the quality of the shop or individual Butchery skills, however we wanted to celebrate the quality advice that you can get from a good Butcher.”
Shane is a hugely popular person around the Ballybofey area and winning this competition is a testimony to both his skills as a Butcher and his personality in doing so.
McConnell meats has also been crowned the friendliest shop in Ireland.
Shane will now receive a special friendliest butcher trophy and products from Goodall’s Ireland, as well as nationwide recognition for being Ireland’s friendliest butcher.
Well done Shane!!
