FINN VALLEY AC ATHLETICS:

The opening day of the national underage champs at Tullamore was so exciting.

It began early with Arlene Crossan hitting 5.85 and ended sometime later with jumps in the 5.90 range best of 5.95.

That would bring her on to the Irish all time list still u 17.

She won obviously and joins her coach Shauna Carlin, Sheila Mc Menamin AND Sinead Mc Laughlin in around the 6m zone from Valley club over the years.

The dust hadn't settled as they say when Sommer Lecky coming from the high jump where a 1.72m clearance equalled u 16 national age group record and again a victory

Now for the long jump opening leap at 5.83 m what can one say classic wins event on that opening mark and is being chased by Janine Boyle who has got out to a pb 5.65 m silver.

Aaron Mc Glynn meantime has his 800 heat under control and an hour later has the final in his grasp as he wins yet again.

Daniella Jansen 800 silver clever running and James Kelly silver javelin are adding to the total.

Many top 6 performances piling in from a large squad present and pbs.

The long jump buzz continued with Ian Brennan a young lad that has just completed his Leaving cert exams he got out to 6.54m as did another young athlete and in that situation you go back to second best jump hence he settled for silver 2 cm's the difference.

Many, many talented athletes here and its back on deck once again Tullamore next weekend again.

Finn Valley were ranked number 1 club nationally last year so that challenge is still very much alive for 2015 thanks to this squad.
