A man is being questioned by Gardai after an attempted armed robbery at a Letterkenny petrol station last night.
A would-be robber produced a knife and demanded cash at the Glencar filling station.
However the man was overpowered and detained by staff at the garage.
It is understood a large knife was recovered at the scene of the attempted hold-up.
The suspect was arrested by Gardai and brought to Letterkenny Garda station where he is still being questioned.
The attempted robbery comes less than a week after another robbery at another Letterkenny shop using a knife.
A member of staff Callaghan’s XL shop on the town’s Main Street was held at knifepoint and a large amount of cash was taken during the raid.
It is not known if Gardai are linking the two incidents yet.
