SHAY Given has issued a statement tonight on his separation from his wife.
There have been reports in Britain linking the Donegal man with a new girlfriend.
However it’s understood Shay and his wife Jane have been separated for some time.
“Shay and his wife separated a number of months ago and, in the interests of their young family, they request that their right to privacy continues to be respected,” said a spokesman for the former Ireland goalkeeper.
The Aston Villa player was at Villa Park for today’s game with Liverpool, but he wasn’t picked to play.
Shay met Jane in Glasgow in 1999 and married seven months later.
