Victory for Naomh Muire but they still bow out
Naomh Muire 0-14
Killybegs 2-05
Naomh Muire’s hopes of progressing to the Quarter Finals in the Donegal Senior Championship depended upon victory for them and a defeat for Termon in Kilcar and even then it was going to come down to the scores.
In the end the Naomh Mhuire men pipped Killybegs by three points to win their first ever senior championship game despite Mark Boyle’s men finding the net twice with goals from Brendan McGuire and Hugh McFadden.
But all ears were on the results from Towney where Kilcar were also in the lead against Termon and where they ran out convincing 3-12 to 1-8 winners.
That result meant the calculators were needed before it emerged that Termon still progressed despite Naomh Muire’s win as Paddy McDaid’s men has scored more over their group games.
