Friday evening saw Gaeil Fhánada hosting U9s and U10 boys teams with Termon in a blitz played in Tria Lough. Our U10 girls team also played Termon. It was a lovely evening for the games. All games were played in great sporting spirit and all teams from both clubs playing very well, showing plenty skill and determination. Thanks to David and all the coaches from the Termon club for coming to Trialough.
A special word of thanks to our young referees Tiernan Cushnan, Odhran Shiels, and Liam Mc Grenaghan. Also Martin McAteer, Tracey Coll and Sean Carr for coaching the 3 teams on the evening.
Our U8s have a blitz up in the Letterkenny Gaels club next Wednesday 9th of September. All the boys and girls to be up at the Letterkenny Gaels club grounds at the glebe @ 6.30p.m. for a 6.45p.m. start. Martin will be in contact via text message regarding blitz and more information plus directions to the pitch.
U17 McGuigan Cup
Congratulations to our 2 club players Odhran Shiels from Ranny, Kerrykeel and Eoghan Carr Ballywhoriskey who were part of the Donegal U17 panel who won the McGuigan cup in Maghera on Saturday last 22nd August. Odhran played at half back in both the semi-final v Tyrone and the final v Monaghan. Eoghan was unlucky to miss out as he picked up an injury in training in the weeks leading up to the tournament. These are 2 very dedicated players who work very hard both on and off the field and can often be seen like many other young players from the club, coach our U6s, U8s and U10 teams in the club. As the saying goes – ‘you always get rewarded for hard work’.
BEST WISHES: To all students from the club who are heading off to College in the coming weeks, exciting times ahead for you all. Always remember the Gaeil Fhánada door is always open.
U13s league is starting up in the next week and as many of the players are involved with the U14s in their great championship run, management will be in contact towards the end of the week with more info.
