Former Finn Harps star James Doherty carved out a reputation as one of the finest right-backs in the LOI and he has enhanced his reputation since moving to Dubai.
Doherty is keeping former Real Madrid and Spanish star Michel Salgado out of the Dubai Irish XI.
Management at Dubai Irish have confirmed that they signed Michel Salgado as back-up to Doherty who has recently suffered an injury.
Management also indicated that Doherty's waistline had bulged over the off season and they've tailored a special training programme to whip him back into shape.
If the influential Doherty does miss out Salgado who runs the Spanish Soccer Academy in Dubai is a pretty good replacement for the former Finn Harps and Termon GAA player.
The Dubai Irish team posted the following message on their Facebook timeline, "Dubai Irish are delighted to announce the signing of former Real Madrid and Spain International, Michel Salgado!
"The former Champions League winner signs on a one year deal and will give cover to James Doc for the season!!
