The Muckish Ramblers had their outing in Murvagh last weekend and it was the best day weather wise of the year so far. It was Tim Ryan’s Presidents Day and it was hotly contested but Michael Murry emerged the victor following a fantastic round of golf.

Murvagh was playing long but the greens were in super condition, very fast and so the scoring was on the low side.

A great day was had by all and the matches were played in the true spirit of the Ramblers Golf Society.

But it was the play of Michael Murry who yet again won the Presidents prize of a Golf GPS system so now he can tell his wife how far he has to go.

Michael was showing it to everyone in the clubhouse in Murvagh even though the batteries were not connected. Strange.

Second place was won on BOT by John Joe McGeever just piping third place winner Gerry McClafferty on 35 points.

Category prizes were won by Nigel Doherty, Michael McGinley and Neil Gallagher while Shaun McGeady and Paul Gallagher won the nines.

Results

1st Michael Murry 36 pts: 2nd John Joe McGeever 35 pts BOT; 3rd Gerry McClafferty 35 pts; Cat. 1 Nigel Doherty 31 pts, Cat 2 Michael McGinley 33 pts, Cat 3 34 pts Neil Gallagher.

The next outing is to Cloughaneely on the 18th May and the trip to Carton House on the 8th June is now fully booked.

More details of Carton House trip to follow later.
