The launch of Letterkenny’s Cleaner Community Campaign 2013 took place this morning at the Market Square with Mayor Dessie Larkin along with Town Councillors, Council Officials, representatives from Cara House, members of Tidy Towns Committee, Toni Forrester Chamber of Commerce and Rev Stewart Wright.
This new programme, The Cleaner Community Campaign, was launched by the Tidy Towns committee in order for the Letterkenny community to participate in.
While this new initiative also highlights other initiatives such as the New Spring Seminar in the Station House on Saturday 20th of April where they will have, among others, David Donnelly, Town Gardiner, John Herrity, Crown Paints and Suzanne Tinney, Waste Awareness Officer with D.C.C, to speak to all interested residents about how to improve both their homes and their local areas.
Some of the other initiatives proposed are the 2013 Action Plan, which is a list of goals that will hopefully help Letterkenny, in their bid, to win a National Award, in this year’s National Tidy Towns Competition.
The launch also coincides with National Spring Clean Month which runs in April and is an invitation for people to get involved in the preparation for the 1st visit of the Tidy Town adjudicators after June 1st.
Free refuge bags are available at the Letterkenny Town Council, Neil T Blaney Road and collection of these bags will be facilitated by the Town Council when clean ups are finished.
Portable Skips are also available from Letterkenny Skip Hire at a cost of €70.
Also launching, is the next, in a series of Wildlife Surveys, about the towns wildlife, in particular the Tidy Towns Committee are interested in the sighting of foxes, badgers, bat, squirrels and the Holly Blue butterfly.
Once again thanks to everyone for their continued support in helping Letterkenny Tidy Towns achieve their aim of winning this years Tidy Town
