NAOMH Conaill are the Under-21 County champions after a dramatic last gasp victory over St Eunan’s in Convoy today.
Man of the Match and county star Dermot Brick Molloy fired in a goal and all the points for the Glenties men before colleague Seamus Ellis hit a last minute goal.
It was Naomh Conaill’s seventh final in a row – and 5th title in that period
The sides were neck and neck throughout the game.
County star Molloy fired Naomh Conaill into the lead within a minute, firing a goal to the back of the net.
Both sides traded ten wides between them but Eunan’s Man of the Match Conor Gibbons pulled Eunan’s back into the game.
Lee McMonagle netted in the 30th minute for the Letterkenny men to put them into a lead.
It was a minute later before N Conaill scored their first point of the game – Molloy taking the chance.
Eunan’s led 1-02 to 1-01 at half-time and extended the lead by a point within a minute of the restart.
John O’Malley and Ciaran Thompson responded for the Glenties men to leave the game at 1-03 each.
Conor Gibbons gave Eunan’s the lead again from a free before Molloy levelled yet again before Gibbons once again put the Letterkenny men ahead 1-05 to 1-04.
And it looked it would stay that way until a dramatic ending.
Brick levelled the match just before the end and as the game went into stoppage time up stepped Seamus Ellis stepped forward to blast the ball to the back of the net to leave them 2-05 to 1-05 ahead.
Eunan’s pushed for an equalising goal but only a point could be added.
And the match finished 2-05 to 1-06.
