A donkey sanctuary owner is hailing a Christmas miracle after four donkeys were saved from being put down.
Owner of the Raphoe Donkey Sanctuary, Danny Curran, had been told about four donkeys which had been abandoned this week.
The donkeys, which were named Mary and the Three Wise Men, were to be put down on Christmas day.
Danny had no room at his “Inn’ because he already had 54 donkeys in his care.
But now Danny has revealed that all four abandoned donkeys, one which is in foal, have been rehomed in the same place.
Danny revealed “I have had calls from right across the country from as far away as Cork.
“The story of Mary and the Three Wise Men really struck a chord with people because it’s Christmas.
“I’m just so delighted all four have been saved and that they are staying together.
“It shows that the true spirit of Christmas really is alive when it comes to animals,” he said.
