Finn Harps reserves begin life back in the Ulster Senior League for the first time since 2005 with a tricky fixture against Kildrum Tigers at Station Road.
It gives a host of first team players who haven’t featured in Harps 1st division campaign yet a chance to stake their claim for inclusion, and provides them with competitive football for the first time this season.
Peter Hutton was delighted that Harps were accepted back into league and believes it is the perfect platform for players who haven’t featured yet to stake a claim for a first team place.
Hutton said,
“It gives the boys the chance to play competitive football at a good standard, players need matches and players that haven’t forced their way into the side need to play so that when there called upon for the 1st team they will be ready to take their opportunity when it comes.”
“It also gives some of our players who have had long term injuries the chance to get back into competitive football and build up their fitness”
The Harps team will be managed by Paddy Foy and Sam Hegarty.
Kildrum began their campaign last weekend but suffered a 2-0 defeat to Drumkeen United.
They will hope they can achieve a positive result tomorrow but will face a stiff test from a Harps team that will have players looking to force their way into Peter Hutton’s plans.
