Brian Mc Cormick Sports Premier Division

Milford United 1 Kilmacrennan Celtic 2

Kilmacrennan won this local derby thanks to two late goals from Eddie Doherty in a game switched to Rathmullan. Milford took the lead after 5 minutes when Paul Shields headed home from a Cathal Mc Gettigan corner. Milford playing with the wind had several chances to extend their lead but failed to find the net. Kilmacrennan pushed forward in the second half and their best chance fell to Eddie Doherty only for Caolan Mc Gettigan to save well. Milford broke with great chances falling to Brendan Murray, Cathal Mc Gettigan and TJ Evesson who failed to convert. Referee Joe McHugh

Lifford Celtic 3 Lagan Harps 0

Lifford Celtic maintained their title push with victory over Lagan Harps at Greenbrae on Sunday afternoon. Despite winning well in the end up it took the Lifford lads until after the break before they settled into their familiar style of play. Lagan Harps came to Greenbrae bearing little in the line of gifts for the title chasers. In the first half especially they battled for every ball and had they reached the interval level it would have being no injustice. Damien Patton spoiled those thoughts however for the Lagan men. After thirty minutes he stormed in undetected at the back post to connect with a Lifford free kick that had been floated from the left wing. Needing to find a second goal Celtic were having to be cautious in their approach. Fifteen minutes into the second half JP Malley found the net to settle the nerves. Eight minutes later he did it again, this time after Colin Carlin had made a right wing run to the byline before cutting the ball back across the Lagan box where Malley was lurking. The striker made no mistake from close range. Lagan competed till the final whistle but Lee White wasn’t troubled in the Lifford net. Kilmacrennan Celtic will be the visitors to Greenbrae next Sunday as Lifford play their game in hand before the league reaches it’s climax the following week. Referee: Patrick Martin.

Glenea United 4 Castlefin Celtic 0

Glenea completed their home league programme with this hard earned victory over a youthful Castlefin side. The border side played with the aid of the strong wind in the 1st half and started well but were unable to create any clear cut chances. As the half progressed the home side came more into the game and started to look dangerous but could just not find the correct final ball. With Glenea looking for the points to continue their league challenge they started the 2nd half well. Michael Barry opened the scoring on 46 minutes when he was on hand to knock the ball home from close range after good work by Sean McBride down the right. Glenea extended their lead on 48 minutes when Ciaran Gallagher’s long clearance was controlled by Michael Barry who saw his shot well saved but Lee O’Brien was on hand to slot home the rebound. Glenea got the 3rd goal on 56 minutes when Michael Barry reacted quickest to a poor clearance and he fired home. Glenea completed the scoring on 75 minutes when Sean Coll’s header from a corner was forced home by Paul Sweeney. Best for Glenea were Padraig McGee and Ryan McFadden, while it was a good effort from a young Castlefin team. Referee: Mick Lagan.

Glencar Inn Division Two

Deele Harps 3 Tullyvinney Rovers 1

It was a case of going through the motions for Deele Harps when Tullyvinney Rovers were the visitors to the Athletic Grounds on Saturday. With the League title already secured they were playing to remain the only unbeaten side in the Donegal League. A victory by three goals to nil retained this statistic and Tullyvinney Rovers must be commended on putting on a competitive display.
