Newly crowned Jackie Crossan Premier League Champions were given a guard of honour onto the pitch by Moville but that was as generous as it got.Clonmany started well and Conor Bradley pounced on a poor clearance to seee his effort deflected behind and from the corner Brian Devlin had another effort deflected away.Moville hit back and when Tony Boyce raced onto a Sean Doherty ball over the top his attempted lob drifted just wide.Marty Doherty for the visitors had one deflected shot saved by Sean McGuinness before seeing another effort also saved.Moville responded with Sean Doherty and Conor McLaughlin combining only for McLaughlin to drive an angled shot just wide.Hesitancy in the home defence then allowed Marty Doherty a sight of goal but again McGuinness saved well.Clonmany continued to press before the break with Steve Harkin seeing a header cleared off the line by PJ Barr before Marty Doherty saw another well struck effort tipped over by McGuinness.Movilel were first to show on the restart and were unlucky when Sean Doherty’s header from a Shane Canning free crashed off the post.Clonmany broke to the other end and a teasing Bradley cross just eluded Doherty rushing in at the back post.Moville repleid with Boyce racing clear but when his cross shot was not cleared the ball returned to Boyce who fired wide from ten yards when he should have done better.The breakthrough came on 57 minutes when Doherty for the shamrocks intercepted a defensive pass and squared the ball for Brian Devlin to slot home.Moville upped the tempo and Eamon Reddin flicked a header onto the roof of the net before a first time Conor McLaughlin shot was blocked by the legs of Patrick Harkin.Nigel McMonagle then cut in from the left and saw a shot saved before releasing Boyce who fired into the side netting.On the break Clonmany almost made it two nil after a Marty Doherty chip beat McGuinness but Alan Orr got back to head off the line.Movile had the final chance when Conor McLaughlin played a one two with Joe Doherty before unleashing a shot which was always rising over the bar.
Glengad United 1-0 Carn FC
Witht he wind Carn started the better and Daniel Mclaughlin’s dangerous cross was cleared by John McDaid to Shane Doherty who blazed over from ten yards.Glengad responded with patrick McDermott advancing through the middle but firing over from distance.A good move by the visitors released Conor Doherty but his but his effort was turned round the post by Martin McLaughlin who done well to collect a dangerous inswinging corner.Before the interval Seamus & Stephen Doherty fed McDaid whose defence splitting pass just eluded the inrushing McDermott.On the restart the home side started better with Christopher McLaughlin breaking and feeding Seamus Doherty whose effort was well saved by Gavin McLaughlin.Minutes later they took the lead after McLaughlin’s low cross was only partially cleared to Patrick McDermott who drilled low to the corner from the edge of the area.Both Stephen and Seamus Doherty had good half chances well saved by McLaughlin while Gary Kelly and Seamus Doherty were also \off target with good efforts.Carn spurned a gilt edged chance after Kevin Kelly flicked the ball on for the unamrked Shaen Doherty but he shot wide.In the final minutes Stephen Doherty broke clear for the home side but McLaughlin advanced to smothr
Moville Celtic 2-3 Aileach FC
Moville got off to a bright start in the 8th minute when Joe Doherty went on a run down the left wing squaring the ball to Tony Boyce in the Aileach box. He evaded some tackles but his shot was tame and Aileach keeper David McGeady saved easily. Aileach hit the front minutes later through Anthony Doherty from the penalty spot. After dispossessing a Moville defender Doherty tried to round keeper McGuinness who brought him down and referee Tom McAree had no option but to point to the spot. Moville replied straight away with a Raymond Campbell header from a corner brilliantly cleared off the line by Declan O’Donnell. Tony Boyce then was unfortunate in the 24th minute after winning the ball on the halfway line. He outpaced the Aileach defence and unleashed a brilliant 20 yard drive only for McGeady to equal him with a fine diving save. Aileach doubled their lead 10 minutes later through more Moville hesitancy at the back. Darren McMonagle seized on the chance and hit a fine low drive across McGuinness which hit off the post and into the net to make it two nil to the visitors. Again Moville tried to get a foothold with Doherty and Campbell combining in the Aileach area only for Campbell’s shot to deflect to Ryan McClenaghan who’s effort came off a defender for a corner. Moville continued to pressure the visitors with more attacks from the likes of P.J. Barr with a diving header and Campbell and McClenaghan both having efforts but with no result. On the hour mark McGeady again came to Aileach’s rescue with another fine save from sub Nigel McMonagle who’s fifteen yard angled shot from a Boyce backheel looked goalbound but for the keeper’s reflexes. Aileach were also pressing and in the 70th minute Anthony Doherty out on the left wing teed up Darren Gallagher who’s twelve yard shot was expertly blocked by McGuinness. Moments later substitute Ciaran Diver for Moville collected a fine diagonal cross out on the right wing from Conor McLoughlin. His low cross into the Aileach area was pounced on by Boyce but McGeady again was on hand to palm the ball away from the striker. Things got bleaker again for the home side in the 78th minute as the visitors went three up. A brilliant free kick twenty two yards out from Gavin Doherty was dispatched over the Moville wall and into the net with McGuinness helpless. With three minutes left Moville got a consolation goal through Tony Boyce who poked the ball home from close range after McLoughlin and McMonagle caused confusion in the Aileach area. However a Moville comeback of sorts looked on as in the 90th minute Ciaran Diver’s cross into the box was brilliantly controlled and dispatched into the right corner by Nigel McMonagle reduce the deficit to the minimum. Despite Moville pressure deep into injury time it was Aileach’s Ciaran Craig who had the last shot of the match from 22 yards which McGuinness dealt with comfortably on the stroke off full time.

QPS 4-1 Gleneely Colts
The home side began well with Seanan McColgan firing over after a good Raymond Buchanan cross. Gleneely responded with Daniel Nolan seeing a twenty five yards effort saved by Conor McColgan.The point took over after this with McColgan and Buchanan firing over before Mark Wallace fired a low shot across goal and past the far post.Karl Donnelly then broke clear with only Martin Mooney to beat but he fired wide before they broke the deadlock on 16 minutes when Buchanan crossed for Seanan McColgan to sweep the ball home from twelve yards.Buchanan then headed wide from McColgan’s corner.Against the run of play the colts equalised on 28 minutes when Patrick McLaughlin latched onto a ball over the top and fired low to the bottom corner from sixteen yards.The point laid siege to the colts goal then with Buchanan seeing a shot saved by Mooney before McColgan headed over.Before the break both Donnelly and McColgan fired wide when well placed. On the resumption the point continued to press with Buchanan firing wide of a gaping goal before being denied by Mooney in a one on one situation.They regained the lead on 62 minutes when McColgan fired a stunning thirty yards effort to the top corner.Mooney then kept his team in the game with saves from McColgna and Dean Barron before substitute Odhran McColgan headed wide when well placed.On 77 minutes it became three one after McColgan’s free found Barron and he fired home from twelve yards.Five minutes later it was four one after Mooney parried McColgan’s shot and Brin McColgan followed up to head home.Gleneely replied with Eddie McNamee’s free finding McLaughlin but his time Conor McColgan saved well.Mooney then produced a stunning save to deny Buchanan before the point completed the scorinf after Odhran McColgan broke through on the left and squared for Seaannan McColgan to slot home and complete his hat trick. After an even opening the home side opened the scoring on 14 minutes after Liam Baldrick’s ball over the top found Philip McGuinness who neatly tucked the ball past Johnathan Noone. But Rasheney hit back and equalised when the home defence failed to clear and Damien Friel poked the ball home past Paul McGettigan.Minutes into the second half Rasheney stunned the home aside after John McLaughlin crossed for Ryan Doherty to head home from twelve yards.Dunree replied midway through the half when Neil Moran cut inside but he blazed over from twenty yards.At the other end a ball over the top released John McLaughlin but McGettigan saved well.Dunree got back on terms on 85 minutes when Conor Mc Bride headed home a corner at the near post.With time running out McGuinness beat his man on the left and squared for substitute Ryan Bradley to sidefoot home from twelve yards.But deep into stoppage time a long free from Noone was not gatherd by McGettigan under pressure and Anthony Doherty forced the ball home to salvage a point and leave Dunree hoping to snatch the title from QPS in the final game.
Greencastle FC 1-0 Moville Res
Greencastle gained local bragging rights with this narrow one nil victory over a Moville side who batteld to the end.After an even opening Sean McQuillan evaded two defenders and was only denied by a superb James Gillen tackle.Moville replied and a Josh Lafferty free was headed on by Danny Murphy but cleared by the home defence before a Josn Lafferty corner found Michael Gillespie whose effort was cleared by Michael Barr.Greencastle struck for the crucial goal on the half hour after James Henry and Ronan Doherty combined to release Sean Cavanagh and he teed up McQuillan to drive a powerful low shot inside the post.The home side went close again after a Gavin harkin free fell to Ciaran Moore whose shot was deflected wide and from the corner Barr fired wide.Before the interval Conor Lafferty shot wide in a scramble before Josh Lafferty had a free tipped over by Nathan Simpkins.Greencastle had the first attempt of the second period when Ronan Doherty crossed to McQuillan who fired into the side netting.Moville hit back and Conor Lafferty’s corner found Josh Lafferty who fired over .Again greencastle came back with Barr heading a gavin Harkin free over before substitute Dean McGeoghaghan fed Ronan Doherty whose effort was deflected over .Moville pressed and Josh Lafferty’s free was headed wide by substitute Sean Downey before John Gillen had a spectacular overhead kick tipped over. Late on Murphy ran onto a through nball but was denied by the advancing Murphy before the final piece of action saw a Ciaran Moore half volley whistle just over the bar
Greencastle FC 1-2 Buncrana Hearts Res
The visitors got off to a great start 7 minutes into the game when a cross in from the right hand side was neatly tucked away by Johnny Eccles to make it one nil for the away side.Up until the 40th minute the game was fairly tight with both sides creating some half chances but failing to trouble the respective keepers Dean McGeoghaghan and Caolan McGonagle.However on the 40th minute Alan Friel struck for goal number two from outside the box and gave the Greencastle goal keeper McGeoghaghan no chance to make it two nil for Buncrana. In the second half Buncrana started brightly however Greencastle responded well and in the 70th minute Tony McClenaghan struck from the 18 yard line to reduce the deficit.Greencastle tried hard in the closing stages but the Buncrana defence stood firm.

Redcastle Res 2-1 Carn Res
Redcastle Res advanced to their second semi final of the season with this impressive victory over premier reserve side Carn Res.They began well with Aiden Cunningham firing just over from the edge of the area on 5 minutes.Carn replied then with Michael Doherty releasing Rory Brady who fired just past the left hand post.Redcastle took over then with Stephen McGowan advancing on the right but shooting narrowly wide.A minute later Cunningham feeds Antonio Rea who beats a defender and crosses for Greg Breslin but his shot was well saved by JJ Doherty.Cunningham then found Brelsin to round a defender but again Doherty came to his sides rescue with a fine save.Good interplay then from the home side saw Stephen McCauley find Rea who again crossed from the left but Breslin headed over.On the stroke of half time the pressure paid off after Rea played a one two with Cunningham and crossed for Breslin to fire low to the net from six yards.Minutes after the restart the home side had another chance after Cunningham sent Breslin clear in a one on one but when keeper Doherty forced him wide he laid the ball back to McGowan who blazed over the bar.
They forced a corner then and Cunmninghams delivery found Liam McLaughlin but he slotted wide from close range.Redcastle increased their lead on 55 minutes after a short corner Cunningham found Mervyn Gourley whose effort was parried by Doherty but McLaughlin was on hand to slot the ball home.Midway through the half they were unlucky when Seamus Farren collected a kick out in the centre circle and saw his first time effort crash off the bar.Carn rallied and on 79 minutes reduced the deficit after Fergal Doherty unleashed a curling twenty five yards effort to the top corner past Ryan McCole.Both sides pushed to the end but neither side created a clear chance and it is Redcastle who prolong their season.
