Comhghairdeas le Coiste Forbartha Dhobhair, (Ionad Naomh Pádraig, Gaoth Dobhair) buaiteoir Duais Náisiúnta Ghlór na nGael 2012, agus Trófaí Foras na Gaeilge, a bronnadh ar an choiste Dé Satharn 20ú Aibreán ag imeacht mór i gCaisleán Chluain Tarbh.
Glór na nGael is a national award presented to community groups for their work within the community and promotion of the Irish language.
Glór na nGael have been in existence since 1961, approximately 120 community groups throughout the 32 counties of Ireland participated in this year’s Glór na nGael Awards.
Five community groups were shortlisted for the National Prize almost two months ago. Among the five groups shortlisted were Coiste Forbartha Dhobhair (Ionad Naomh Pádraig).
Coiste Forbartha Dhobhair were announced National Winners at a gala event in Clontarf Castle on Saturday 20th April. The community group received Glór na nGael’s National Trophy sponsored by Foras na Gaeilge, a cheque for €40,000 presented by Aire na Gaeltachta, Donnchadh Mac Fhionnghaile, and a gold medal.
Máire Uí Chomhaill, manager of Ionad Naomh Pádraig, spoke on behalf of Coiste Forbartha Dhobhair and thanked Glór na nGael and everyone who helped and supported them throughout the years and assisted them in bringing their vision of a vibrant community centre with a wide and varied range of services to fruition.
