Celebrating the Year of Faith in the Parish of Killenummery and Killery
To celebrate the Year of Faith, the Parish of Killenummery and Killery is hosting a Vision Week in May 2013. Each evening from Monday 20th May to Saturday 25th May, people are invited to gather for a time of prayer and to hear a different guest speaker.
Guest speakers during the week include Oisin McConville, Dr Tony Bates and Mark Harte. On Wednesday we will welcome first class relics of St. PadroPio and hear the remarkable story of Sean and Ann Mulrine. With an exciting programme of guest speakers and time for prayer and reflection this promises to be an event not to miss. The parish of Killenummery would like to extend an open invitation and warm welcome to anyone interested in visiting for an evening or the whole week.
The Parish of Killenummery and Killery is the island parish of the Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnois. Situated in counties Leitrim and Sligo, the parish is approximately two miles from the village of Dromahair. There are three churches in the parish: St. Mary’s Parish Church Killenummery (Ballinagar), St. Theresa’s Ballintogher and St. Michael’s Killavoggy. Fr. Vincent Connaughton has been parish priest since 2008.
The Year of Faith was initiated by Pope Benedict XVI and runs from October 2012 until November 2013. Marking the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, the Year of Faith is an invitation to revisit and renew our understanding of the Faith and what it means to follow Jesus Christ in the 21st Century.
