The Donegal Juvenile, Senior and Masters Track and Field Championships are fast approaching.
Day One will take place in Letterkenny on Tuesday evening 30th April with a start time of 6.30pm. Day Two will take place at the new Lifford AC track on Saturday 11th May starting at 12pm.
There will be Electronic Timing on both days.
As in previous years, there is an extensive programme of events on offer across both days. With juvenile athletes allowed to step up one age group there are at least four events (sprints, distance, throws and jumps) to choose from on each day of competition. A hurdles and walks programme also caters for an increasing number of juvenile athletes competing in these events.
This year’s Championships are being held earlier than in previous years to help athletes with their preparation for Provincial, All Ireland and Schools competitions.
This year, the pre-entry of athletes both to the Championships and to their individual events is encouraged. This will speed up registration on the days of competitions and allow event sheets to be drawn up in advance.
Clubs are encouraged to submit their athlete names, years of birth, and selected events to me by Monday 29th April for Day One of competition. Please note, monies will only be paid by each athlete on the day of competition when collecting his/her number – there will be no cost to either the individual or club if he/she doesn’t attend. Likewise, where events have been pre-selected, athletes are still free to change or add events on the day of competition.
