It was a very successful weekend for the senior and reserve Glen teams taking all points from their matches against the visiting Naomh Muire sides.Glenswilly GAA Club

Sundays first offering was an overwhelming victory for our reserve team. They went in at half time leading 5 points to 0, all scores coming from the boot of Gerard McGrenra. The second half started were they left off,2 quick fire goals from Peadar Toner and Shane Carrberry put the contest to bed. The Glen winning 2-07 to 0-06 in the end.

The seniors then faced their nearest challengers in division 2. The Glen dominated the first quarter, leading 0-5 to no score and things were looking positive and indeed were denied a Michael Murphy goal as his fisted effort rebounded off the bar.

Naomh Mhuire cleared the ball and sent a high looping ball into the Glenswilly square and somehow ended in the back of the net. Half time score was 1-04 to 0-07. News that will be welcome around the county was the introduction of Neil Gallagher as a replacement for John McFadden who picked up a knock after restoring the lead for the Glen with a well taken point. What followed, could be described as a “dog fight” as both teams battled for a victory. Naomh Mhuire took the lead with time running out, but thanks to points from a Michael Murphy free and one from Gary “copper ” McFadden, Glenswilly edged out Naomh Mhuire to take victory on a scoreline of 0-13 to 1-09.
