THE estranged brother of double killer John Gallagher has died.
Francis Gallagher, who was 53, had spoken in the row over his brother’s release. He had also taken legal action when his brother became one of the main beneficiaries of their father’s will.
John Gallagher was found guilty but insane of murdering his ex-girlfriend Anne Gillespie (18) and her mother Annie (51), who were shot dead in Sligo in 1988.
He later absconded from the Central Mental Hospital in Dublin, but returned to hand himself in last May. He has since been freed and now lives in Strabane, Co Tyrone, a mile from his native Lifford.
Francie lived in Orchard Road in Strabane and was estranged from John and their mother. He passed away at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry earlier this week after an illness.
His funeral leaves from his home today (Wednesday) at 925am for Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Melmount at 10am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
