DONEGAL TDs Padraig MacLochlainn and Pearse Doherty have erected a picture in honour of murdered Sinn Fein colleague Eddie Fullerton in the corridors of power in Dublin
This framed picture of Inishowen councillor has been hung on the Sinn Féin floor of Leinster House between the offices of the two Donegal TDs.
“We are always inspired by him,” said Deputy MacLochlainn.
“The picture dates back to 1984 when Labour Minister for the Environment, Liam Kavanagh refused to meet a delegation from Donegal County Council because, Eddie, a Sinn Féin councillor was part of it.
“He left through the gates of Leinster House to allow the meeting to proceed. That moment is captured in the picture. Today there are 14 Sinn Féin TDs and three Senators in this building, carrying on Eddies work’. Sleep easily my great great comrade and friend!”
Mr Fullerton was murdered at his home in Buncrana in May 1991 by the UFF, assisted by British Army intelligence officers.
