A total of 19 PLC students and staff from Finn Valley College recently enjoyed an activity packed educational outing to Dublin as part of their FETAC Level 5 Office Administration course.
The trip began in fine style upon stopping in Monaghan when the group bumped into Donegal captain Michael Murphy and fellow county players Michael Boyle and Antoin Mc Fadden who were on their way home after their week in DCU.
On Friday morning the PLC’s then received an excellent presentation and talk from Ms Andrea Molloy, Sales and Marketing manager of the the Clarion hotel group, on the running of a multi national hotel chain.
Thanks must go to the Clarion Hotel and their staff for extending the students such a warm and hospitable welcome during their stay.
From there the group were treated to a bus tour of all the sights and landmarks of Dublin city which was bathed in glorious spring sunshine before heading south to St Jame’s Gate and the Guinness storehouse.
The popular attraction informs all those who visit of the story of how Arthur Guinness’ vision for his unique porter has become the marketing phenomenon that it has. A highlight of the storehouse has to be the Gravity viewing deck on the 7th floor of the storehouse which offers panoramic views of Dublin city and it’s surrounding hinterland.
The final stop on the trip was out to Belfield for a guided tour of the sprawling UCD campus by student ambassadors Sean and Cliona. UCD is home to over 20,000 students and offered a tantalising glimpse to the students of life at a major university that many of the group intend going onto next year after completing their PLC course in Finn Valley College.
Huge thanks and appreciation has to go to our long time friend and bus driver Mr Charlie Mc Namee for his wit, wisdom and excellent service.
