Leitirmacaward native Carl McHugh’s hopes of returning to Wembley suffered a severe dent last night after Bradford City were beaten 3-2 by Burton Albion at the Valley Parade.

It leaves Burton Albion as hot favorites to progress when the second leg takes place on Sunday.

Bradford who made Valley Parade such a fortress all season and particularly during their memorable Capital One cup run to Wembley suffered a potentially devastating blow lastnight.

Calvin Zola’s brace of goals did the damage and had Burton Albion in cruise control as they led 3-1 but Garry Thompson gave Bradford a lifeline to reduce the deficit to 3-2.

McHugh didn’t feature last night and took his place on the bench, he will be hoping he will get reinstated to the side for the return leg on Sunday as he and Bradford look to get back to Wembley for a second time in 2013 and get promotion to League One.
