Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce hosted a reception to present the winning plaques to participants of the St.Patrick’s Day Parade.
Speaking at the event John Watson, Chamber president thanked all the participants for all their hard work leading up to the parade and their ability to mobilise volunteers to participate In the entries on the day.
He said “while this year’s parade was not as big as recent years it is still a very important event in the Letterkenny Calendar. It acts as a kick start to a spring and summer of events in Letterkenny and beyond. All the winning entries were very inventive and we know the judges had as hard a job as ever picking the overall winner.”
The Danny Doherty Memorial Shield was presented along with a cheque for €500 to Letterkenny CDP worthy winners of the overall parade and best Float. The Late Danny Doherty was one of the main people involved with the parade over many years and the shield is presented in his memory.
The plaques this year were kindly sponsored by Brian McCormick Sports and John Watson concluded proceedings by thanking all businesses who sponsored the parade in any way and all who contributed without who the parade could not take place.
