Donegal star Patrick McBrearty refused to attend the hearing into an alleged biting incident against the wishes of the Donegal County board.
Donegal officials had presented the disciplinary hearing committee with photographs and medical reports in order to prove that McBrearty was bitten during Donegal’s national football league clash with Dublin by Kevin O’Brien.
However McBrearty did no co-operate with the hearing. O’Brien was originally hit with a 3 match ban but following an appeal the decision was quickly exonerated by the CHC.
The matter of why the player hadn’t attended the hearing was raised at last nights meeting of the county board by a delegate and chairman Sean Dunnion quoted in today’s Irish Examiner said
“We did everything possible, we replied to all correspondence and were represented by the (County secretary) Aodh Martin O Fearraigh and the team doctor Charlie McManus.”
“I must add that the action was taken against the advice of the county’s officials.”
