Castlefin Partnership Initiative is known as a social innovator driving social change. Established in 1999 CPI has successfully completed an extensive community development project and now runs an Enterprise Centre and various large-scale events from their 8-acre site.
14 years on and they are the heart of their community and lead from the front when it comes to inclusivity. So it was no surprise when they entered the Change a Little Change a Lot Accessibility Awards.
“We wanted to know how accessible our complex really was. We are very aware of our responsibility to everyone in our community and genuinely thought we were up to standard, but completing the Accessibility Checklist really opened our eyes to the changes we still had to make,” says CPI Director Michael Carlin.
No stranger to awards, CPI has won national awards, business awards but Michael Carlin says, “An Accessibility Award is really one to be proud of. Knowing that we can publicly display our Change a Little Change a Lot Award sticker on our front door reassures all our visitors that we are responsive to their needs.
“The entire team has learned so much from their Disability Equality Training but also by making the relevant changes from seating in our reception area, to our toilets and communications and information material. The entire process was hugely beneficial and we will still work on continuing to make changes for the better.”
With the upcoming Northwest Garden Show on 25th and 26th May, CPI say they are more confident than ever in hosting over 20,000 people over two days by having a greater awareness of accessibility.
