It was great to see over 150 of our next generation of young athletes out competing on a lovely warm evening at the Finn Valley Centre.
From a sprint to a distance race or long jumping to the recently introduced Turbo Javelin, there was plenty on offer for everyone.
Indeed, the grit and determination etched over these young faces in the sprints or coming down the home straight after 600m shows the will to win is ingrained at an early age.
Whether a child was first or last, each and every one was cheered home by supportive parents and coaches when the most important thing at these ages is that children are participating in and enjoying sport.
Thanks to all the clubs for turning out for Tuesdays event and to all the officials who helped out with the smooth and timely running of the programme. Thanks also to the Finn Valley club for hosting the event which acted as a dress rehearsal for the Ulster Childrens Games in a few weeks time. A reminder to clubs that the closing date for these Ulster Childrens Games and U12&13 Championships is this Friday.
Next up in a busy athletics calendar is Day 2 of the Donegal Track and Field Championships for Juveniles, Seniors and Masters which will be held in Lifford this Saturday 11th May with a 12pm start.
