ROSCOMMON 0-16, DONEGAL 1-16 THE bookies had made hosts Roscommon 4/9 favourites in Athleague – and were way off as Donegal rallied late to win.
Gerry Fallon converted six frees in the first half and Micheál Kelly hit two long-range points from play to help Roscommon – with the wind behind them – lead by 0-10 to 0-7 at half-time.
But Donegal came out fighting for the second half and a goal from Seán McVeigh tied the match at 1-9 to 0-12.
Roscommon came back again but Donegal looked hungrier and fitter than their hosts and once they took the lead with 15 minutes left they never looked back as Danny Cullen, Ciaran Matthewson and Jamesie Donnelly all hit scores.
