GAA NEWS – MALIN CLUB NOTES

MENS FOOTBALL:

Saturday evening in Fintra saw the senior side having an impressive victory over their Killybegs opponents, Final Score Killybegs 0:05 Malin 0:16. Prior to this, Malin Reserves also played a superb game, by trailing 0:04 to a Killybegs 1:12. The end of the second half saw the side placing three goals within 5 minutes into the back of the Killybegs net, ending the match in a draw. Sunday 19th of May sees Malin host Four Masters, with Reserves at 1:30pm, and Seniors at 3pm.Malin GAA

 

 

LADIES FOOTBALL:

Ladies Football training continues on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s between 8pm- 9pm.

 

GIRLS FOOTBALL:

U16/U14 Girls continue to train on Wednesday’s at 5:15pm.

U12 Girls continue to train on Wednesdays at 4:15pm

U10/U8/U6 continue to train on Saturday mornings at 11:15am till 12:15, all sessions are €2.

 

BOYS FOOTBALL:

U6 age group continue to train within the Club Gym on Sunday mornings from 10am -11:15am.The sessions are based on GAA Fundamentals; a Croke Park initiative based on research aimed at bettering your child’s coordination (including hand eye) balance, agility and basic fitness in a fun filled environment. It is also an introduction into the basic skills of Gaelic games. All children are welcome to attend.

U8 age group continue to train on Sunday mornings at 11am to 12:30pm, also within the Club Gym. All underage sessions are €2.

U10 age group continue train on Sunday’s from 12:30 to 1:30pm.

U14 Training takes place on Monday from 5-6 and on Thursday from 4.30 to 6.00.

 

HURLING:

U10/U12 Boys and Girls Hurling continue on Friday Evenings from 6pm-7pm. All equipment provided €2 per session.

 

MALIN CUL CAMPS:

Kelloggs are offering a promotion on registration to the Cul Camps, when registering online with the unique code found in selected packs Kelloggs Corn Flakes will receive €5 off per child. Those who register online must inform Maria of this, alternatively registration forms will be given out at the start of June.

 

GO GAMES:

Malin U8 will be away to Carn on Saturday the 18th, while the U12 team will be away to Carn on this Tuesday evening.

 

U14 TEAM:

Friday evening saw Malin U14 Team claim an impressive victory over Moville, with the final score line being Malin 3:14 Moville 4:7.

 

DOWNEY/MCLAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CUP:

On Sunday evening in Burt, Malin U16 Team played against the home side in the final of the Downey/McLaughlin Memorial Cup. After a close game, it all ended in a draw. It is expected that the final will be replayed Next Sunday the 19th of May at 7pm. Please see Clubs Facebook and Parish notes for more information.

 

 

MR & MRS:

The club will be holding a Mr & Mrs Competition, on Saturday 25th of May. Money raised by the Mr & Mrs competition will go towards purchasing new equipment for the Club Gym. Our 2013 Couples are Brendan and Denise Mc Laughlin (JM), Paddy and Diane (Owen), Jackie and Pat Clean, Carolann and Kevin Farren, Eleanor and Michael Farren, and Danny and Trish Lafferty. GAELIC LIFE NATIONAL LEAGUE FANTASY FOOTBALL:

After the successful running of the Gaelic Life National League Fantasy Football Competition, We have yet again joined forces with the weekly publication for the All Ireland Fantasy Football equivalent. The competition is free to enter and proved to be very popular with club members in the summer when young Ciaran Collins followed in the footsteps of Jim Mc Guinness and led his team to victory. The National League competition proved to be just as popular with young Conor Mc Laughlin from Shantla coming out on top. Just choose your starting 15 players from the 9 counties in Ulster (Declan Walsh can be selected in the half back line) and sit back and watch the drama upfold. Entry for the competiton closes on Wednesday the 15th of May at 5.00 pm. To enter just log onto www.gaeliclife.com/fantasyfootball where full rules can be found. Anyone who wishes to enter the Malin GAA private league is asked to send their name and team name to pro.malin.donegal@gaa.ie or send it via private mail on the club facebook page.

 

2013 GAA PREDICTION COMPETITION:

The club are also running a 2013 GAA prediction competition. Just predict the winners of the 6 provincial finals (hurling and football), the 4 sides to qualify for the All Ireland football QF through the back door, the overall football and hurling winners and finally the winners of the Donegal SFC. Points will be awarded for each of selection. For full details, check out the club facebook page, or forms are available in pubs through-out the area. Entry fee is just €5 with all monies taken, getting paid out as prize money. Competition closes on Sat May 18th at 2pm. LOTTO:

There was no winner of this week’s lotto jackpot of €850. The €50 winner was Packo Fildara, with Christopher Mc Laughlin (F) receiving the €20 seller’s prize. Winning sequence was 7-4-6-3-5-1-2. Next week’s lotto jackpot stands at €900 and we thank the local community for their continued support of the weekly draw

 

CONGRATULATIONS:

Congratulations to Club PRO Martin Doherty and his wife Anne on the birth their son Cianán from all in the Club. We hope that if Cianán ever has to choose between the signing for Southampton or playing Malin Senior side, he will make the right choice and choose the Black N Amber.
