Tadhg would have been very proud.
That was the general reaction to this morning’s Breakfast For Tadhg which helped raise more than €2,000 for Relay For Life.
The fundraiser, which took place at the Quiet Moment Tea Rooms in Letterkenny, honoured the late town councillor Tadhg Culbert.
The former Mayor of Letterkenny, who died after a brave battle with cancer recently, often popped into the restaurant for tea and a scone.
Owner of the Quiet Moment Brendan McGlynn said he was moved by how people reacted to the idea.
“Even in these tight financial times, people dug deep and gave as much as they could.
“The first person through the door put €50 in the tin and many did the same thereafter. Everyone put in what they could afforded and every cent was appreciated.
“Tadhg would have been very proud of the trouble people went to in coming along and then donating.
“It also showed how loved Tadhg was and how fondly he will be remembered for a very long time,” said Brendan.
