Giovanni Trapattoni is planning to contact Shay Given this week to see how serious he is about coming back to international football.
The Ireland manager has reacted positively to reports that Given wants to come out of retirement.
He plans talks with the Donegal legend and could recall the Aston Villa star for the Poland friendly in February.
“I am very happy that Shay has got over the disappointment of the Euros and would be happy to see him available again.
“I will be in touch with him to discuss it shortly,” said Trap.
The Lifford netminder has hinted he is ready to come out of international retirement and add to his 125 caps.
“I do miss playing for Ireland and we will see what happens in 2013,” he said.
