Cappry Rovers

Cappry Rovers come out on top in a narrow win over Dungloe Town in the U14 Champions League.

It was a story of 2 halves in Cappry Park on Sunday. The 1st half was dominated by Cappry Rovers and could have easily have been 2 or 3 goals up at half time with Sean McBride hitting the crossbar, post and had a header cleared of the line.

A battle of wits between the managers at half time set up a completely different 2nd half. Pat Ward (Dungloe Manager) moved Sean McCauley in off the right to do a man marking job on Sean McBride. This seemed to change the game in favour of the Rosses side. Dungloe had a few good chances of their own but Jamie Bell made a couple of good saves in the Cappry goal.

In the last 10 minutes Cappry got back into the game and forced a couple of corners to put Dungloe on the back foot. 5 minutes from the end Kyle O’Meara passed to Sean McBride who struck a stunning half volley from 25 yards which looped over Conor O’Donnell in the Dungloe nets and went into the top corner.

Best for Cappry were Shaun Rodgers, Neil Patrick McDaid and Sean McBride.

Best for Dungloe were Sean McCauley and Michael McFadden.
