On Saturday 8th of June Donegal Sports Partnership in conjunction with the Irish Wheelchair Association Sport and Galway Speeders Basketball Club will host a wheelchair basketball event targeting junior players aged 17 years and under.
The event is organised as part of the Sports Inclusion Disability Programme which comes under the umbrella of Donegal Sports Partnership and focuses on the inclusion of people of all abilities in sport and recreational physical activity.
Last year Donegal Sports Partnership acquired 6 top of the range sports chairs through funding secured from Donegal Local Development Company (DLDC).
These sports wheelchairs are used by the wheelchair basketball group who meet and train regularly in Aura Leisure Centre Letterkenny.
This event is organised to both promote the training this group have been doing and to invite new players to join their sessions.
On the day there will be an interactive coaching session and an opportunity for a few fun games between the players involved.
Although the event is organised for junior players everyone is welcome to come along, meet the teams and representatives from the various organisations and see how much enjoyment is had by participants.
The FREE session will take place in An Dánlann Sports Centre, Letterkenny Institute of Technology and booking is essential.
Further information on the event can be obtained by contacting Donegal Sports Partnership on 074 91 16078/16079 or via email on sido@activedonegal.com.
