A young boy whose dog was butchered to death has spent hours making a touching memorial for his tragic pet.
Luke Turner was left devastated when his pet dog Duke was found shot in the head just one hundred yards from his home in Milford.
Luke’s teacher has read about the disturbing incident on Donegal Daily and helped Luke create the memorial for his dog.
Luke’s mum Nicola said she is delighted her eldest son is trying to do something positive but is still upset at what happened to the family’s dog.
“Luke’s woodwork teacher Mr Scott heard about Duke and the two of them set about making the cross.
“It’s a really lovely gesture and it has helped him get over Duke’s horrible death.
“But we are still very raw about all that has happened and we are still determined to get to the bottom of it,” she said.
Nicola revealed that she approached Donegal County Councillors who agreed to back her campaign ‘Justice for Duke’ in an effort to find who killed Duke.
Donegal Daily is among a number of groups who have offered a reward for information to find Duke’s killer.
That reward has now gone up to €2,000.
Gardai have confirmed they are aware of the incident and have interviewed a number of people about Duke’s killing.
Nicola and her family are continuing to put up posters in the hope that’s someone may have seen what happened to Duke.
