The highly anticipated Arranmore Challenge cup will kick off a festival of football on the island this June bank holiday weekend. 16 teams take part in the prestigous competition with teams from all over Ireland, England and Scotland competing to win it. It also brings people back to Arranmore Island to their family and friends. 
Each team bring at least 20 people with them, which is a great help to the local economy on the island.
One delegate in each of the following: London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow have put together teams in each area and will organise travel to Arranmore Island.
It is a huge event, there is also fun days for the children with games, bouncy castles, etc on offer.
The football is played over 2 days with 16 matches on Sat, and 15 on Sunday.
It attracts a big attendance each day. There are 6 pubs on the island & each provide music for the entire weekend.
The pipeband is present for the final match. A total of 300 to 400 hundred people is expected to come to the Island making it the biggest gathering of emigrants ever to return home to our little island.
