RTE RADIO NA GAELTACHTA SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP – GROUP 4

ST Michaels face Kilcar in what should be an explosive championship encounter at the bridge on Sunday.  Bridge

Kilcar come into this match off the back of a great victory against a dogged Glenswilly outfit in Towney last Sunday, while St.Michaels by all accounts were lucky to have secured a draw against a physical and well organised Bundoran side led by former County manager Brian McEniff.

However, St.Michaels will be hoping they can welcome back into their starting line up two influential players in Christy Toye and Michael “the rock” Gallagher.

Toye was introduced as a second half substitute last week and kicked the equalizing point against Bundoran.

On their day St.Michaels have the beating of anyone in the County and with this game being dubbed “a must win” the men from the bridge are fancied to overcome Kilcar.

Kilcar will be buoyant after last week’s victory and again will look to County star Patrick McBrearty for most of their scores, he was Man of the match last week kicking 8 points and the shootout between McBrearty and McFadden will go a long way in deciding the outcome of this game. It should be a cracker.

Verdict – St.Michaels

Glenswilly face off against Bundoran in the other game down for decision in group 4.

Defeat for either side would see their championships aspirations hanging from a thread.

With Michael Murphy, Gary McFadden and Neil Gallagher all expected to play against Bundoran it’s easy to see why the glen men are highly fancied to overcome Bundoran.

Glenswilly produced a fine performance last weekend and were unlucky to lose by 1 point against Kilcar. They know nothing other than a win will be good enough and two points for them is crucial.

But don’t write off Bundoran boosted by the return of Brian McEniff they nearly pulled off a fairytale result against St.Michaels last week, and that performance and result will give them a massive confidence boost heading into this clash.

Verdict – Glenswilly
