Inishowen Sinn Féin councillor Jack Murray has requested an urgent meeting with Chief Superintendent Teri McGinn after an armed robbery in An Grianan Hotel Burt. Cllr Murray said he will use the opportunity to call for more Garda resources in border areas.
Cllr Murray said;
“As a Sinn Féin representative I, along with my party colleagues, regularly engage with the Gardai so that our communities can receive the best possible policing service.”
“We have also met with the PSNI in order to ensure that there is regular co-operation between both policing bodies in relation to cross-border crime.”
“I have been assured that there is frequent collaboration between the PSNI and the Gardai.”
“However, our border communities have experienced many break-ins, robberies and other spates of crime over many months.”
“Following the armed robbery in Burt and other similar incidents recently, I have requested a meeting with the Chief Superintentent in order to discuss the Gardai’s response.”
“I will also push for more Garda resources to be moved to border areas. Our border communities cannot continue to be vulnerable to such crimes.”
