A WEATHER warning has been issued for south Donegal this evening after torrential rain sent a river of flood water through the centre of the County Sligo seaside town of Strandhill.
Irish Weather Online reader Ian Ryan reported flood water on the main street.
The site says there are now warnings for potential further thunderstorms in north Sligo and south Donegal.
“The radar animation suggested heavier showers for a time moving north to the east of that location, so we may get other reports from around east Sligo and south Donegal,” said IWO.
Met Eireann had warned that the county could be hit with thunder and lightning this evening.
Earlier this was a huge thunderstorm over Carrick on Shannon, Co Leitrim.
The hot weather is coming slowly to an end with temperatures slowly dropping through the week and the dry sunny weather being replaced by showers and sunshine.
