Mr. Henry McCahey’s Captain’s Prize to ladies is a much sought after accolade so there was a big entry, all vying for the main prize. On a hot summer’s day (isn’t it great to be able to say that!), the victors emerged as follows: Front 9 Triona Daly, Back 9 Eileen Keating, 3rd Maura Cavanagh, Gross Monica McDonagh, Runner Up Anne Cannon (41 points BOT) and the winner was Marian O’Sullivan (41 points).
Lady winners in the Pre Captain’s mixed competition were Margo Birmingham, Bridie Gildea and Margaret Doherty. Congratulations to all the ladies who won prizes in Mr. Captain’s celebratory week.
The rearranged July Medal was held on Tuesday, another glorious summer’s day. This was kindly sponsored by Anne Flannery, Karen Crawford, Ethna Diver and Agnes Wiseman. In 3rd place was Pauline Doherty (71), 2nd place Connie Reddan (70) and the winner was Celine Bradley (69).
Arrangements for Lady Captain’s Competition 2013
The highlight of the golfing year is the Lady Captain’s Prize. In celebration of the club’s Centenary, Lady Captain Sandra McMonagle has decided to hold a two day competition, Day One on Tuesday 6th August and Day Two on Saturday 10th August. The main prizes will be based on the accumulated total of the results from both days and the format will be 18 hole stableford on both days. There will be a random draw for Tuesday so please indicate your preference for AM/PM (AM –until 2pm or PM 2pm onwards) when entering the competition by putting your name on the draw sheet on the notice board in locker room. Please ensure that your name is on the draw sheet for Lady Captain’s prize by 9pm on Thursday 1st August as no late entries will be permitted. All other details in relation to this competition are on the notice board in the locker room.
As has become the custom in Lady Captain’s week, there will be a scramble on Thursday 8th. This is a fun competition and all lady members are encouraged to participate, regardless of your perceived golfing prowess. Please put your name on the appropriate list in the locker room for this competition.
