Breaking News: SCOTTISH police have confirmed they have found the body of a man not far from where a County Donegal man went missing ten days ago.
Barry Doherty, 25, from Carndonagh, had been last seen in Paisley on Monday, July 15 by his father who lives in the town.
His mum had travelled to Scotland yesterday from Carn to help in the search. Posters had also been distributed at Celtic’s match with Cliftonville on Tuesday.
However Barry’s sister Cathie says she now fears the worst after the body of a man was found last night by Renfrewshire Police.
A post mortem will be carried out later today.
“I really hadn’t wanted to tell anyone until everything was confirmed – but there was a male body found,” she said.
“It has not been identified, and will not be identified until tomorrow. It was found close to where Barry went missing, and while we’re fearing the worst – we’re still hoping for the best.
“We obviously appreciate all your well wishes – and understand your rush to sympathise – we just don’t know yet.”
A spokesman for police in Paisley said officers are investigating the discovery of a man’s body in the town.
Barry Doherty, was last seen at his home at Langcraigs Terrace, Paisley when he left the house around 11pm on Monday July 15.
Scottish police had made a TV appeal for information earlier this week.
The family have praised officers for their work in trying to find Barry.
