LETTERKENNY AC runner Mark English didn’t make last year’s Olympics – not to compete anyway.
Last year he was a mere spectator at the greatest athletics show on earth when many thought he should have been in the Irish squad.
Today at the same stadium Mark will get a chance to show the world what a huge talent he really is when he runs in the Anniversary Games in the 800m.
National Junior 800m record holder English, now with UCD AC, will return home to Ireland for the national championships in Santry at the weekend.
He drops down in distance to the 400m and will start as the slight favourite to take the title. English ran a suburb new personal best of 1:45.32 at the Morton Games signifying that he is in shape to run fast over 400m. National champion Brian Murphy (Crusaders AC) will have other ideas as he goes for three national titles in a row.
