Letterkenny General Hospital has been closed to all visitors after yesterday’s horrific flash floods.
A statement from the HSE said both the emergency department and general wards have been closed while a massive clean-up continues.
Emergency cases are being rerouted to both Sligo General Hospital and Altnagelvin in Derry.
“There is a major clean up underway at Letterkenny General Hospital, following flooding of several sections of the hospital yesterday evening.
“The ED remains closed and patients are being diverted to Sligo Regional Hospital and Altnagelvin Hospital.
“The hospital is closed to ALL visitors as many areas have been flood damaged and soiled and the hospital wants to avoid risk of contamination and the spread of infection,” said a statement.
