COUNTY PANEL

Well done to Declan and all of the Donegal squad who qualified for the All Ireland Quarter Final by defeating Laois in Carrick on Shannon on Saturday evening.

Declan was restored to the starting fifteen and gave probably one of his best ever performances in a Donegal jersey, helping to snuff out countless Laois attacks and caused havoc in the Laois defense by joining in on the Donegal attacks on many occasions.

There will be little or no rest for Declan and his teammates this week, as they now face Mayo in the Quarter Finals in Croke Park on Sunday at 4.00.

The men from the west will be out for revenge after last years All Ireland Final defeat, but Donegal will not give up Sam without a fight. Best of luck to all involved.

MENS FOOTBALL

With the Donegal Senior footballers in action this weekend again, there will be no action for our adult sides.

Our reserve football defeated Gweedore by the bare minimum in Connolly Park in the Division 1 Reserve league on Sunday.

Malin won on a scoreline of 3-10 to 3.9 in a thrilling game of football, thanks to goals from Seamus Doherty and Stephen Doherty and an injury time winner from super sub Paul Mc Laughlin.

GIRLS FOOTBALL

Our U14 Girls are due to host Red Hughs this Thursday at home, please see facebook for further details during the week.

Well Done to the U12 Girls Team that played Urris in a Challange Match ahead of the Gerry O Neill Memorial Cup Final.

It was the first time, that the girls had played in front such a large crowd, and they all throughly enjoyed the occasion.

GERRY O NEILL MEMORIAL CUP

Congratulations to Urris and Carndonagh who contested the Gerry O Neill Memorial Cup Final in Connolly Park on Sunday evening, Urris were victorious in a thrilling game of football and also a big thank you to the Muff Accordion Band whose presence added to the occasion.

HURLING

U10/U12 Boys and Girls Hurling has stopped for the Summer and will return in a few weeks.

UNDER 14 LEEDS TRIP

A coach full of 25 under 14’s and 24 team leaders took off from Malin and made their way to Leeds on a well earned end of season trip last weekend. leeds u14

With this being the first time away from home or out of Ireland for a few of the boys, there was great anticipation.

Finally, after a 12 hour journey the team arrived in Leeds, to be greatly welcomed by the corresponding organisers on the other side.

As part of the annual Leeds Irish Festival 2013, the under 14’s were split into two teams, Malin A and Malin B, which meant all players could get lengthy playing time on the field.

Playing with skill, accuracy, determination and a professional attitude from these young players, lead both teams to the semi-final of each group stage.

Having won each of their groups both Malin teams would have to play each other in the final to decide the overall winners and be presented with the festival shield.

On-lookers were given an extremely kinaesthetic performance and applauded the Malin players, along with commenting how proud the club should be to have such representatives who showed such great passion and team spirit. Leeds victorious team

However as the men began to tog out for the senior 7-a-side competition, the spectators were given a feast, with some boys on the field back from retirement and some who, may have been out of practise, managed, with help from team-mates, to pull down the famous Malin jersey and get stuck in!.

A word of heart-felt thanks must go out to everyone involved in the organising and excellent hospitality we received in Leeds.

A special mention must go out to James-Anthony Houton, Frank and Mary Doherty Ban, John and Marie Keogh and to all the Houton’s, who without their input, effort, and gratitude our trip would have not have been the success it was. Leeds Senior

For all the adults, who provided hours of entertainment in the form of sing-songs, (or what was meant to have been) and for supporting the players in all of their matches.

To John and Susan Byrne, who spent hours behind the scenes, making sure all the team were kitted out and looking their best, even when it meant a speed chase the evening before hand!

To Ronald Boggs and John McLaughlin, for sponsoring the teams T-shirts for their weekend away.

To the parents, for their on-going support, enabling our trip to happen, and especially to the panel of 25 Under 14 players, who were a credit to their parents and represented Malin G.A.A with exceptional behaviour and their talented display of Gaelic football with great team spirit.

Without all these and many others, their would not have been the memories created that will be remembered for years to come.

There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €650. The sequence draw was 7-3-5-2-1-4-6.
