Best of luck to Donegal on Sunday as they take on Mayo in the q-final of this year’s championship in what is a repeat of last year’s memorable All-Ireland Final. Best wishes to Rory, Ross and Éamonn.
The Juniors won a keenly fought contest against N. Conaill in their championship 2nd leg game by 1-07 to 0-09 to advance to the next round and a meeting with the winners of the MacCumhaills v Letterkenny Gaels tie.
The Reserve game was postponed at the weekend and their next outing will be a meeting with N. Conaill in the championship q-final on August 10th with the winner meeting the winner of four Masters and St. Michael’s in the semi-final.
The Senior Hurlers are in action at home this Wednesday (31st) against MacCumhaills in the Championship, throw-in at 7:30pm and they take on Setanta, also at home the following Wednesday (Aug. 7th).
The Minor footballers had a good win over Termon in their Northern Championship q-final 1st leg game; the 2nd leg takes place at the Burn Road this Wednesday (31st).
The U16 Boys div. 1 team had no game this week and they will take on Red Hugh’s at home next Monday (Aug. 5th). The div. 2 team had a good win over Buncrana on Monday night and they make the short trip to the Gaels next Monday.
The U14 Girls are at home to Ardara this Friday evening at 7pm. All support welcome. Training is on Wednesday in O’Donnell Park at 6.30pm. All players should be there.
The U12 girls travelled to Glenfin on Monday night and did very well in all their games.
The U12 Hurlers maintained their 100% record with an away win at MacCumhaills. The U16 Hurlers had their first loss of the year to Buncrana and play away to Aodh Ruadh this Thursday. The U12’s play at home to Burt on the same day. U16 and Minor Hurling training continues every Tuesday at 5pm.
The Sunday Morning Football Academy is now on a two week break and will return on Sunday, August 18th at 11am.
There will be no Friday Hurling & Camogie Academy on Friday week, August 9th and it will return on August 16th. It goes ahead as normal this week (Aug. 2nd).
Bookings are now being taken online for our Cúl Camps Hurling & Camogie Camp that takes place from August 12th – 16th. Hurling legends Paudie Butler and Ger O’Connor will attend for two days and will also host a “Coach the Coaches“ session on one evening during the week. Best wishes go out this weekend to Pajo and Mary, who are getting married on Saturday and to Sammy Bogan and Suzi Tinney who are also getting married this Saturday. Sammy and Suzi met when they were paired up to take part in our Strictly Come Dancing a couple of years ago.
There is a charity fundraising match this Bank Holiday Monday in the Park in aid of the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation. Contact Jonathon Foley for details on 086-0546815. This game is open to all adults – current, past, men, women etc. and for a very worthy cause. There will also be some music, a raffle and good craic so please come out on Monday and help raise vital funds.
