This Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC quarter final between Mayo and Donegal is quickly turning in to one of the biggest grudge matches in the GAA for years after sensational claims by Donegal assistant manager Rory Gallagher that Mayo offered Monaghan advice to help them beat Donegal. 
Gallagher also feels that Stephen Gollogly’s challenge on Mark McHugh that left the Kilcar man with a perforated ear drum, concussion and a tear in his quad muscle was pre-meditated.
Gallagher said,
“We suspect there was a bit of collusion between Monaghan and Mayo.”
“Look back at Lee Keegan’s challenge on Mark McHugh at the start of last year’s All-Ireland final. When Lee Keegan got booked he turned around and winked at his team mate as if to say ‘job done’.”
“I don’t believe Gollogly intended to do the damage he did when he made the challenge on Mark, but he went out to hit him hard, and as a result our player was very badly injured, I know Gollogly got injured too but his injuries weren’t as severe as the injuries sustained by Mark.”
“I don’t believe Malachy O’Rourke set any of his players out to ‘do’ someone. That is not in his nature.”
“But ask any top referee to view the incident it is reckless and dangerous and at the end of the day that deserves a red card.”
Gallagher also believes that well-known sports psychologist Kieran Shannon is advising James Horan on what to say to the national media.
“I think Horan works to a pre-meditated script and I think Kieran Shannon is behind a good bit of it.”
“I know Shannon fairly well. He was involved with Fermanagh under Malachy O’Rourke. I think Shannon is behind Horan’s statements.
The sensational comments are sure to only add fuel to the fire, following Horan’s claims that Donegal would do anything to gain an advantage after he dismissed McGuinness’s claims that his team were being targeted saying that Donegal have brought ‘physicality’ to a whole new level.
