A LARGE number of Travellers with their caravans who left Ballybofey today have taken up residence in the Aldi supermarket car park in Dungloe.
Gardai are monitoring the situation.
Earlier the 20 mobile homes left a supermarket car park in Ballybofey after a tense 24-hour stand-off.
It follows similar incidents in other parts of the county earlier this week.
All the vehicles, with northern registrations, belong to an extended number of families which had been prevented from moving onto a site in Convoy.
Several of the caravans were seen travelling to Donegal Town this afternoon after leaving Ballybofey. Some of them however are now in Dungloe.
One local woman counted eight of the vehicles earlier.
Gardai – already stretched due to the Mary from Dungloe festival – have asked for extra officers to be stationed in the town.
Their movement onto the Aldi car park earlier this evening is illegal.
It’s understood the store manager is liaising with gardai this evening.
In the last few hours of trading customers were only being allowed in and out the supermarket through one door.
