Congratulations to Aidan Gillespie, our Club Captain, who won Gold in the Long Jump and Bronze in the High Jump in the M40 category at the World Police Games at the Mary Peters Track, Belfast at the weekend.
Great performances from four Rosses AC ladies in the Rock N’ Roll Half Marathon in Dublin on Monday last. Sadie Mc Devitt and Kathleen Griffin finished together in a great time of 1:50. Grace Garvie and Lorna O Donnell will be pleased with their fine runs with Grace finishing in 2:12 and Lorna coming in at 2:14. Great runs by all.
An excellent turnout in Maghery, last Saturday, for the Martello Adventure Event. And what a close affair it was at the end with only seconds between the top three. Adrian Ward, Kincasslagh came home first ahead of Edward Harkin with veteran Arranmore man John Connaghan in third place. This is the same John Connaghan that was a member of the Rosses team that won the County Novice Cross Country Ch’s as far back as 1979. Marie Boyle, Letterkenny AC won the Ladies section with Marie Timoney in second place. Cathy Breslin won the Over 40 category with Emer Mc Gee second and Sinead Diver third.
Good luck to Aidan and Derek Gillespie who head to Tullamore this Saturday for the National Combined Event Championships. Five events in one day: 110m Hurdles, Long Jump, Shot Putt, High Jump and 1500m.
Good luck to all our club athletes who will be travelling to the Athlone to the Community Games Finals the weekend of August 16th.
There will be a club meeting next Wednesday night in the hall in Mullaghduff at 9pm. All welcome to come along.
